How to book a truck load in the SmartHop app
Running a trucking business can be challenging, but finding the right loads doesn’t have to be. SmartHop’s dispatching app helps you earn more and operate more efficiently. If you’ve signed up for a free trial, set up your account, and are ready to book your first truck load, this quick step-by-step guide will help you get started.
Step 1: Download the app
Once you’ve signed up for your free trial and set up your account, the next step is to download the app from the App Store or Google Play. While we offer a web version, our mobile app is the best way to access all that SmartHop’s dispatching platform has to offer, including real time load updates and chats with your dispatchers.
Step 2: Set your preferences
Sign in to the app and set your load and lane preferences. You’ll also want to make sure you’ve updated your truck plan, so we know when and where you’ll be available. Then, you’ll begin to receive push notifications suggesting high-paying loads based on current market conditions and the details you provided.
Step 3: Find a load you like
Browse through your recommended loads. Clicking on Strategy will show you a map with route suggestions that will earn you the most money in the long-term. We provide three suggestions so you can decide which one suits you best.
Clicking on View Load will display the load’s origin, destination, pick up and delivery time, as well as details including total miles, deadhead distance, weight, RPM and more. You can choose to accept the load as is, request a higher rate, or dismiss it. SmartHop also includes a chat function where you and your dispatching team can discuss loads and compare options.
Note that over time, SmartHop learns how you like to work and maps out the best load strategy for the coming weeks based on the previous loads you liked, accepted, and rejected.
Step 4: Book the load
If you want to secure a load quickly, use the SmartHop Load Search tool and select the filter Only Show Book Now to view options you can book instantly with participating brokers and load boards. This allows you to secure a load in seconds. If you are not filtering for only book now loads, you’ll still be able to see when one is eligible through the Book Now button.
Step 5: Accept the load
When the broker verifies your bid, you can either Accept or Dismiss it. Once accepted, the load will appear as Pending Approval from the broker. After the broker confirms the load, the load will appear as Booked. You can go back to view the load details at any time in Chat or Trip Details.
Step 6: Start hauling
Once you’ve booked the load, all that’s left to do is hit the road! If you or your drivers need support along the way, we’ve here to help 24/7 via chat, call, or text.
