SmartHop Announces Hetal Giaimo As VP Of Product

Apr 1, 2022

Following a record year, Giaimo joins the growing company to continue to drive efficiencies in the logistics industry

MIAMI, April 1, 2022 — SmartHop is on a mission to reimagine the trucking industry, with solutions designed to increase top line revenue and reduce operational costs for independent trucking companies. To help continue to grow and scale its platform, from dispatch, to payments, to insurance and leasing, Hetal Giaimo has joined the company as Head of Product.

The announcement comes following SmartHop’s best year on record, with a 3.5x increase in available load access over January 2021. Collectively, small carriers and owner-operators drove 14 million miles using SmartHop, with top customers earning $370,000 annually.

“SmartHop was founded based on one core belief: that truck drivers and carriers shouldn’t have to choose between operating independently and having access to better opportunities,” said Guillermo Garcia, founder and CEO of SmartHop. “Creating these opportunities — from ways to help our customers earn more efficiently to financial products that alleviate operating expenses — requires innovation and agility. We’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished last year. With Hetal on board, we’re confident that we’ll continue to make a difference in the lives of our customers and the wider logistics industry.”‍

Giaimo comes to SmartHop from Sendoso, where she was the VP of Product and continues to serve as an advisor. For two decades, she has held senior product, marketing, and analytics roles at a range of technology companies. Additionally, Giaimo has successfully led teams within startups and Fortune 500 companies to create a multitude of B2B and B2C products in the payments, gifting, and logistics industries, and she is passionate about building customer-centric products that solve complex problems.

“The trucking industry is one of the most critical parts of our economy that gets little attention. People just expect their grocery shelves to always be stocked but no one ever thinks about how those items get to the store. We even see trucks on the road but often don’t connect the dots,” said Giaimo. “The trucking industry is still analog for the most part and lacks efficiencies technology can offer. I am passionate about SmartHop’s mission to empower and elevate the lives of truckers and their families through technology and to give truckers much more control of their destiny.”
